Day 4
Written by Belicia Ko^^
The fourth day was the last day of the camp. All of us dreaded this day. Camp has been a awesome experience for us. However, EFL could have never been better. All of us woke up as early as 0630 so that we can have enough time to pack up. As we had not finished packing the previous day, we were all rushing to pack our baggage. While Fu Rong was packing her stuff, a cockroach, I emphasize, a cockroach appeared. We were all screaming and running about. Cheryl, Clareen, Racher and I hid in the toilet for a while. The cockroach disappeared soon after and everyone was relieved. We returned to our rooms to do a final check on whether if we left anything behind.
Dragging our heavy luggages, we gathered at the canteen in our different groups while waiting for our instructors respectively. Instructor Alan was wearing his favourite colours, black and yellow. While waiting for breakfast to be ready, we were playing the game Concentration with Alan and his facial expression was "epic". We had so much fun during the camp, it was definitely worth our time. Although we were all smiles and laughters, deep inside we were not willing to leave behind the precious memories. Breakfast was finally being served, when we saw that our breakfast was just scrambled eggs with 2 slices of bread with butter, we were kind of disappointed as we expected something better since it was our last meal at the camp. After breakfast, we carried our bags and walked to the conference room and left it there.Following after, Rachel went to return the key to Mrs Leong.
We had a camp debrief and everyone was sad to leave. We lined up in our bumboat groups and walked towards the jetty. I noticed that many of us were tearing up while waiting for the bumboats including myself. Many of us did not want this wonderful camp to end because we all had a fantastic time together. We had a mini gathering for Cheryl and my group. Our instructor's touching farewell has moved us to tears. Before boarding the bumboat, Rachel and Racher's group took pictures with their instructors, Sugan and Hambali.
On the way back to Mainland, Singapore, we were crying silently. We kept thinking and reflecting on the wonderful experience we had during camp.
When we arrived at the Jetty in Singapore, the buses were already waiting for us. We bid our intructors a final goodbye before boarding the buses. The ride back to school was an awkward one as many of us were crying.
The moment we got out of the bus, we strolled down the lane in silence as sadness consume us while some of us gave long hugs to our friends and bade farewell because after that day, it was the holiday. Such an experience was an unforgettable memory and it will be etched in my mind for as this trip is filled with many emotions which we have never felt before. It feels like we have lost a friend and gain a best friend as the trip has brought the whole class closer together for the first time, we spoke to someone we were not familiar with. Perhaps that was why EFL was the highlight in our school, for they have brought many people who did not know each other together. This was an excellent camp and every one of us are glad we can go for another camp in secondary 4 which will be the time when we leave, to go on our own separate paths. Contacts will be gone, and we might lose touch with one another. But the memories of our trips and adventures together will never be forgotten.
Yes, we were that close. The student would think that way, that we were that close. So to prolong this spirit and carry on this legacy which EFL camps have brought about, water pollution must be prevented within your abilities and if everyone plays a part in keeping our water sources clean, this trip will never have to end.
Secondary Three Education For Life camp was the best camp any of us could ask for.
